Family Services and Sunday School
Many of our churches hold a Family Service often on the first Sunday of the month, which are designed to be more accessible for families with young children. Do check our list of services here.
We love having families and children in all our services, so please don’t worry about children making a noise in church! We would much rather you be with us. All the churches have toys and activities for children to play with, but it is worth coming prepared with things for your little ones to do during the service (especially under-3s).
Toddler Groups
Small Saints is our new toddler group at All Saints Church. Starting from 5th November, we will meet every Tuesday in term time from 9:30-11am and all pre-school children and their parents or carers are very welcome. Leaders are from the church and are DBS checked.
There is no need to pre-book but you will be asked to complete a registration form on arrival. There will be a variety of different toys to play with, craft activities and a quiet area. At the end of the session there will be stories and songs, some with Christian content. There is no charge but we would appreciate a donation per family to cover costs.

St Peter’s Pre-School
Our pre-school is situated in the middle of the village of Bradfield Southend, at the rear of St Peter’s Church and a five-minute walk to the Bradfield C of E Primary School. It was opened over forty years ago by members of the local church who wanted to offer affordable preschool education and a suitable setting for children to socialise. It is currently run by a voluntary management committee with three representatives from the Parochial Church Council, with the remaining members being parents. The PCC are an integral part of the life of the pre-school. They contribute toward maintaining good standards of service to our families, support the staffing group and provide a well-maintained environment for us to provide our service. We have a strong relationship with the Church and we are truly grateful for their continual support.
The setting, being behind the church, backs on to fields and provides Early Years education in such a beautiful rural setting. When potential new families come to view the preschool, we always point out how fortunate we are to have access to a garden and a field which is maintained on our behalf by the PCC. Although all faiths are welcome at St. Peter’s we have a general Christian Ethos. We have regular visits from our local Lay Minister, we enjoy visits to Rushall farm to celebrate Easter, we perform a nativity production each Christmas and end all sessions with a group prayer.
We are committed to offering the best possible experience for all our children and giving them the best possible start in life. From the minute your child arrives they will find themselves in a safe and friendly environment which is child-oriented totally geared to their needs. Your child can start with us from 2½ years of age and will be provided with a range of opportunities and experiences that are designed to stretch their imagination and enhance their skills.

Church Schools
Bradfield CE Primary School and Bucklebury CE Primary School
There are Church of England Schools in both Bradfield and Bucklebury that are well linked with the churches within their parish. Regular worship assemblies are supported by the ministry team across the benefice and the schools also enjoy visiting the local churches particularly for Easter, Harvest and Christingle services.
