Weddings
Congratulations on your engagement. We are delighted that you are planning to get married, and wish you every blessing for your future life together.
If you would like to consider a wedding in one of our parishes, then the following information will guide you through what is involved.
The Church of England has a dedicated website that gives lots of useful information that will help you with your planning.

Getting married in church
Anyone who is resident in a parish, and has not been married before, has a right to be married in their parish church. If you are not currently a resident, then you can still be married in one of our parishes through a qualifying connection.
There are laws governing where you can get married, and the information you will need can be found here: https://www.yourchurchwedding.org/article/finding-a-church/

Preparation
A member of the clergy will meet with you to discuss your plans. We care very much that your wedding is a great occasion. However, we care even more about your marriage. A Marriage Preparation Day is run every year which provides an opportunity for you to focus on each other and your marriage.
Although there is a standard fee for church weddings, there are additional fees for the bellringers and organist.
Planning a wedding can take a long time, and be very time and energy consuming, as well as great fun. We will do all we can to help you with your preparations.
Making an enquiry
If you would like to get in touch with us about a wedding, or a wedding blessing, please use the 'Getting married enquiry form'.
If you are enquiring about a blessing, please state 'Wedding Blessing' in the notes section. We will get in touch with you to discuss your enquiry further.
If for any reason you don’t hear back from an enquiry using the form please contact the church office directly: office@2bsd.org.uk or 01635 860220
Banns
If one or both of you live in one of our parishes but are getting married in another parish, you will need to have your banns read here too. If you are enquiring about banns, please fill in the form below. Banns have to be read at a Sunday service three times and are valid for three months. We will be in touch to let you know when your banns will be read, and arrange a time for a certificate to be available.
