Rector’s Update 13/5/24

I hope you have been able to enjoy the recent beautiful weather and perhaps even spot the Northern Lights!

We are now in the middle of the season called Thy Kingdom Come.  You should have received a prayer booklet/guide with your Parish magazine or at church – this provides some helpful resources to use at this time.  Please do be using this season to pray two simple prayers – Your Kingdom Come and Come Holy Spirit.  We long to see more of God at work in our churches and communities.

We’d love you to pray with others too – there are two mid-week opportunities to do so every Monday at 12.15pm in person at All Saints Church and every Tuesday at 7.30pm on Zoom, both lasting 30-40 minutes.  I’m also proposing we have a midweek service of Morning Prayer on Zoom for those who prefer a more formal style of prayer – please let me know if you are interested.

Next Sunday (19th) is Pentecost Sunday when we will pray for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit in our lives.  As well as our usual morning services there is an evening Pentecost Celebration for the whole team at All Saints at 6.30pm.  This will be a service of sung worship and teaching with opportunities for Prayer Ministry – do come if you can.

On Sunday afternoon we had an enjoyable tea with people from All Saints.   Don’t forget that everyone is welcome to join us at the Vicarage in the coming weeks – here are the forthcoming dates

  • Saturday 1st June at 3pm for St Denys Church

  • Saturday 15th June at 3pm for St Mary’s Bucklebury and Marlston

  • Sunday 7th July at 3pm for St Peter’s Bradfield

May God bless you all this week.

Steve
