Rector’s Update 29/10/24
It’s hard to believe that we are nearly at the end of October and well into the autumn season. The turn of the month marks an important time in the Church year. Thursday (31st) is All Hallows or Saints Eve (known more commonly as Halloween) and we will be celebrating the light of Jesus at our Light Party for primary age children at St Peter’s.
As All Saints Day falls on Friday, we will be marking this in our services across the Benefice on Sunday (3rd) when we give thanks for the saints in every age who have shown us what it is to live a Christ like life. As well as our usual morning services on Sunday, at 3pm we have our annual Memorial Service at St Denys’ to remember those who have died. Then at 6.30pm there is Christ in the Quiet at St Peter’s.
The following week our thoughts turn to remembering those who have died in conflicts past and present. Our Remembrance Sunday (10th) morning services start at different times to usual (10.30am at St Peter’s and 10.55am at St Denys’ and St Mary’s). There is no morning service at All Saints. Also, there is an Act of Remembrance at Bradfield War Memorial at 3pm.
Some other key dates to note:
Tuesday 5th November 9.30am start of new Small Saints Toddler Group
Sunday 24th November 6.30pm Evening Celebration at All Saints with Grant Fensome (Area Dean)
Sunday 1st December 6pm Advent Carol Service at St Denys’
Have a good week.
