Rector’s Update 28/08/2024
I hope that you have had a good August and managed to enjoy some of the lovely days that we have had. Time seems to be rushing by, and we are almost into September with schools returning in the coming days. As we begin this new term there’s lots to look forward too.
On Sunday, as well as our usual services there is a monthly Family Service at St Denys’ and St Mary’s – all are welcome. The monthly St Peter’s Family Service is on 8th September. In the evening St Peter's host Christ in the quiet at 6.30pm.
We really enjoyed hosting you at our home at the various teas in the summer and we have another opportunity for all of us to get together this Sunday (1st) when there is a Congregational Tea hosted at All Saints from 3pm – 5pm. We would love to see as many of you as possible and if you wish, feel free to bring some homemade cake that can be shared.
We have been having a good sort out of Christian books at both All Saints and St Peter’s and these will be available on Sunday afternoon for anyone to take – please do not bring more books as we have lots already!
Starting on 8th September in all of our churches, we will begin a new sermon series looking at Prayer using the model of the Lord’s Prayer as our inspiration.
On Wednesday 25th September (for 6 weeks) there is a joint Benefice evening course, called Talking Jesus – helping us to share our faith naturally with others.
On Saturday 28th September we have joint congregational Harvest Supper and Barn Dance in the Black Barn at Rushall Farm starting at 5pm – do start to sign up from this Sunday.
Finally, I hope that most of you have now heard that the Church Commissioners have agreed to the proposal to combine our Parishes into a single Benefice, and this will come into operation on 1st October 2024.
Have a good week.
Steve
