Rector’s Update 9/11/24

I hope that you are well and stayed safe in the stormy weather at the weekend.  I know that some in our communities lost power but hope that has now been restored.

Thank you to those who organised and all who came and supported the Christmas Coffee Morning at St Mary’s Bucklebury on Saturday – it was wonderful to see so many people despite the atrocious weather.

Thank you too, to those brave people who battled the storm to support the Light of the World Café at St Peter’s on Saturday evening.  This will be open again on the next two Saturdays from 5 – 7.30pm for anyone who is touring the Christmas Lights in Bradfield Southend.

Christmas Services in the Benefice kick off next Sunday as follows:

  • 4pm     Christmas Celebration (St Peter’s Bradfield Southend)

  • 6pm     Carol Service (St Denys’ Stanford Dingley)

There is an identical Carol Service (to the one at St Denys’) at St Mary’s Bucklebury the following Sunday (22nd) at 4pm.  There is also a Carol Service at St Mary Marlston at 6pm on Friday 20th December.

Seasonal refreshments will be served after all of these special pre-Christmas services.

Unfortunately, we have not had any applicants for our new post of Team Vicar but we will keep working to recruit someone in the New Year.

Thank you to those who have already returned a commitment card for your financial giving in 2025.  If you are yet to do so, can you please return it by next Sunday so that our Treasurer can assess the impact before the start of our new financial year.

Have a good week.
