Rector’s Update 7/1/25
Happy New Year!
I hope that however you spent the season, you had a good Christmas. Caroline and I really enjoyed our first Christmas in the Benefice and being a part of most of the special services where we welcomed many visitors. It was good to have a choir sing at two of the Carol Services and to reintroduce a Midnight Communion on Christmas Eve. I would like to thank the many people who worked so hard to make sure that the services and events went well – you are all much appreciated. I am always glad to receive constructive feedback so if you have any comments about the various services and events, please do let me know.
This coming Sunday (11th) we have our usual morning services where we will be thinking about the Baptism of Jesus except for St Denys’, where there is no 11am service but an Epiphany Carol Service at 4pm.
From Sunday 19th January, until the start of Lent, we will using our Sunday morning sermons to work through the book of Ephesians. In any one sermon we can only look at a few verses or a chapter but a letter like Ephesians was always intended to be read as a whole. I encourage you to carve out time to read the whole thing (it’s only six chapters long) before we start.
On Sunday 26th January at 3.30pm at All Saint’s Church we have an afternoon tea for all of our congregations. It’s a great opportunity to mix with others who worship at different services or in different church buildings – do come along if you can.
Finally, thank you to everyone who made a fresh financial commitment to the work of our church - it's not too late to respond if you are yet to do so. If you need to set in place a new or revised Standing Order please remember to put this in place so that the PCC can receive your future donations.
Wishing you every blessing for the New Year.
Steve
